De acordo com a sugestão de moewe, o MWE agora é verdadeiramente mínimo (eu acho). Eliminei a necessidade de vários .bibarquivos removendo abreviações e diminuí o .bibarquivo principal (exatamente como mostrado abaixo).

Parece que o arquivo foi buscado duas vezes (daí os avisos para chaves duplicadas). Mas não sei como isso está relacionado ao problema.

Ao usar o recurso biblatex's (e biber') para buscar .bibarquivos de locais remotos, as referências cruzadas não são resolvidas.

Considere o seguinte arquivo bibliográfico (bibliography.bib):

Se eu citar ic:bedau:2009:01ao usar \addbibresource{bibliography.bib}, a referência cruzada c:barberousse:2009:01será resolvida com sucesso. Se eu citar ao usar \addbibresource[location=remote]{<url>.bib}, entretanto, a referência cruzada não será resolvida, a menos que eu também cite c:barberousse:2009:01algum outro lugar no texto.

Estou usando uma versão atualizada MacTeXe compilando com pdflatex -> biber -> pdflatex.

Alguma ideia? Alguém pode pelo menos confirmar que enfrenta o mesmo problema? MWE abaixo.

Este era um bug e deveria ser corrigido no biber 1.9 disponível na pasta DEV do SourceForge. Você precisa usar a versão biblatex 2.9 DEV com o biber 1.9 (também no SourceForge). Ele estava buscando fontes remotas desnecessariamente mais de uma vez.
