Ao estilizar minha Tese, o editor exige pelo menos dois pontos no ToC - ou a linha precisa ser quebrada (o que, feito manualmente, causa outros problemas). Existe alguma ideia que dois criem uma solução mais elegante do que a tocloft \renewcommand\cftdotsep{..}coisa (que cria novos problemas em outras linhas)?

Tanto olivroe alivro de anotaçõesem última análise, as classes são invocadas \@dottedtoclinepara produzir entradas toc com líderes, portanto, o patch deve funcionar.

Um comentário requer um patch semelhante adaptado para otocloftpacote. Uma rápida inspeção revela que este pacote não depende de \@dottedtoclineproduzir os líderes, mas define o seu próprio comando, nomeadamente \cftdotfill, para o efeito. Knuth & Plass 1981papel"Quebrando parágrafos em linhas" explica o modelo de caixa e cola subjacente ao algoritmo de quebra de linha do TeX e mostra algumas pirotecnias possibilitadas por ele.
Usando um desses truques, podemos definir uma meta mais ambiciosa: quando os líderes e o pagenum são colocados em sua própria linha por falta de espaço, preencha as linhas anteriores com líderes dentro de uma margem fixa da direita.
Observe como a borda direita dos líderes se ajusta quando forçamos uma linha extra.
Você pode controlar o quanto as linhas extras se projetam na margem direita acima do número da página que aparece na próxima linha ajustando \rmargin.
