Como exibir entradas de índice na mesma linha do texto que está sendo indexado

É possível permitir showidxa exibição de entradas de índice na mesma linha do texto que está sendo indexado? Parece que não é como makeindx.pdfdiz:

Esta macro na verdade compõe ocaixacontendo todas as entradas de índice na página atual [...].

O que é um pouco irônico, pois, por makeindx.pdfsi só, o nome da macro assim descrita, \@mkidx, está na margem, logo antes do texto. (É claro que o ambiente parece diferente e \@mkidxprovavelmente não é uma entrada de índice. Por outro lado, o texto em cleveref.pdf, que também possui entradas de margem, parece ser apenas... texto.)

Então, dado que já estou usando hyperref, cleverefe tcolorbox, qual poderia ser a resposta? Esperançosamente, um que ainda não exijaoutropacote.
