A pasta figestá no mesmo diretório do .texarquivo e a figura Q_a_x.epsestá dentro da pasta fig. Esse problema acontece quando eu compilo usando pdflatexno Linux. Existe alguma maneira de resolver esse problema, mas continuar compilando usando pdflatex, em vez de latex? Desde já, obrigado!

pdflatexaceita (quase) todos os arquivos de imagem, exceto .eps. Tente convertê-lo para .pdfou .pngqualquer coisa conveniente.
Caso contrário, você poderia usar epstopdfo pacote, que faz o trabalho automaticamente. Nesse caso, você deve adicionar \epstopdfsetup{outdir=./fig/}, para informar onde colocar o .pdfarquivo produzido.
