Tentei recompilar o código mas sem sucesso e não consigo encontrar o erro.
Agora alguns nós estão indefinidos. Comentei as linhas com problema

Não tenho certeza se é realmente compatível colocar \node
comandos em um matrix of nodes
ou matrix of math nodes
. De qualquer forma, você parece usá-lo para dar estilos aos nós. Existe uma maneira mais simples. Em vez de
\node[node style sp] {a_{22}};
apenas diga
|[node style sp]| a_{22}
Este é o método documentado no manual atual (v3.1.5) e funciona.
