Porém a mesa está crescendo para o lado direito e ultrapassando a largura. Eu tentei como--

Eu não tenho svmultdocumentclass, então uso `article. Esperançosamente, o design da página não difere muito e o posicionamento da tabela no texto segue as mesmas regras.

Eu reescreveria um pouco a sua tabela: retire todas as linhas verticais, da horizontal use apenas a primeira, a segunda e a última:
