Drop Cap está fazendo com que o texto seja empurrado para fora em certas linhas de texto

Question

Gostaria que o texto permanecesse alinhado, mas parece que o sobrescrito junto com a capitulação foi empurrado para fora. Não sei o que preciso para consertar isso. Além disso, gostaria que o parágrafo envolvesse a capitular onde a primeira linha começa no topo. Alguém pode me ajudar? Obrigado!

Eu nunca usaria o Times para esse tipo de texto; mas newtxtexté definitivamente uma escolha melhor do que o timespacote obsoleto.

Fiz algumas alterações: com uma coluna tão estreita, a fonte deveria ser menor, o que é conseguido dimensionando em 90%, com uma redução correspondente do salto da linha de base.

Eu modifiquei a definição de \versenum: você inseriupositivokerns em vez de negativos. Finalmente, microtypefaz maravilhas.

Para permitir a hifenização da palavra após o número do versículo, eu uso \nobreak\hspace{0pt}.
