Exibir marca em vez de linha na legenda do tikz

Ao usar

    \addplot[color=black, mark=x, draw=none] table [y=Y, x=X]{Data/breaks.dat};
    \addlegendentry{Discarded solution};
    \addplot[color=black, mark=*, draw=none] table [y=Y, x=X]{Data/restarts.dat};
    \addlegendentry{Reset to record}

os rótulos exibidos ao lado de "Novo registro", "Solução descartada" e "Redefinir para registro" são apenas linhas pretas simples, mas eu gostaria que fossem "o", "x" e "*", respectivamente. Como posso obter as marcas em vez das linhas?

Algo assim. Uma vez que nenhum código e datun foram fornecidos. Esta solução criou 3 arquivos de dados simples e os incorporou ao código via filecontents. Adicione estes

\addlegendimage{only marks, mark=o}
\addlegendimage{only marks, mark=x}
\addlegendimage{only marks, mark=*}

Uso de legend cell align=centerpara outros alinhamentos de texto/rótulo.
