Eu construí o kernel 3.11.3 seguindo as instruçõesaqui. Não houve problemas na construção. As etapas que segui criaram entradas automaticamente no grub e copiaram a imagem para/boot também.
No momento da inicialização, quando escolho o novo kernel, a inicialização fica travada com a seguinte mensagem
[ 1.563345] MODSIGN: Problem loading in-kernel X.509 certificate (-129)
[1.734622] ata3: softreset failed (device not ready)
[1.735638[ ata1: softreset failed (device not ready)
Mas recebo a mesma mensagem ao inicializar com meu kernel original (kernel-3.9.5-301.fc19.x86_64) e ele desaparece imediatamente e inicializa normalmente.
/boot/grub2/grub.cfg se parece com isto

Estou usando o Fedora 19 em uma arquitetura x86_64

cd para o diretório de origem, digite 'make clean', depois 'make localmodconfig' e construa o kernel como você fez antes. Quando você fizer 'make install', o grub.cfg será gerado automaticamente.
