Estou instalando o minio mais recente no Ubuntu 18.04 seguindo as instruções de instalação do minio aqui.

após a instalação, tente executá-lo com sudo systemctl start minio.service

mas não funcionou com mensagem.

notou algo errado com 'MINIO_VOLUMES', mas eu configurei a variável no /etc/default/minio

MINIO_ROOT_USER=myminioadmin
MINIO_ROOT_PASSWORD=minio-secret-key-change-me
# MINIO_VOLUMES sets the storage volume or path to use for the MinIO server.
MINIO_VOLUMES="/mnt/data"

Então tentei usar o comando minio para inicializar o servidor

minio server /mnt/data  --console-address :9090

Finalmente descobri que o problema é que a nova versão do servidor minio não é compatível com os arquivos minio antigos, então removi todos os arquivos minio e criei uma nova pasta para o minio. então dá certo.
