Estou tentando reduzir a taxa de bits de conexão em meu adaptador wifi USB Atheros TP-Link TL-WN821N v3 devido a problemas frequentes de instabilidade (a velocidade de conexão relatada cai para 1 Mb/s e preciso reconectar fisicamente o adaptador para recuperar uma conexão ). Eu sei que este é um problema comum com este dispositivo e tentei tudo o que pude pensar para corrigi-lo, incluindo o uso de drivers de backports do Linux; compilar e instalar um firmware personalizado (seguindo as instruções emhttps://wiki.debian.org/ath9k_htc#fw-free) e (como último recurso) usando ndiswrapper.
Ao usar o ndiswrapper, o adaptador wifi é estável e opera no modo g a 54 Mb/s (enquanto ao usar o módulo ath9k_htc padrão, o adaptador se conecta no modo n e a taxa de bits flutua constantemente). Infelizmente, com esta configuração eu tenho que executar meu processador usando apenas um núcleo, já que usar SMP com ndiswrapper causa um erro de kernel em meu sistema.
Portanto, quero bloquear minha taxa de bits em 54 Mb/s (ou menos, se necessário) para estabilidade da conexão, usando o módulo ath9k_htc.
Eu tentei 'sudo iwconfig wlan0 rate 54M'; o comando é executado sem erros, mas quando verifico a taxa de bits com 'sudo iwlist wlan0 bitrate' o comando retorna:
wlan0 unknown bit-rate information.

Não tenho esse hardware, então não posso testar, porém, parece que a taxa é decidida pelo firmware. Há firmware corrigidoaquiisso deve funcionar com o kernel 3.2.0-55.85-generic e talvez com kernels posteriores também.

Você encontra um firmware pré-compilado que usa MCS3 (26mbit/s) como taxa de injeção em patches/AR9271/firmware/htc_9271.fw. Copie este arquivo para /lib/firmware e insira novamente o cartão para usar o firmware modificado. Se você quiser compilar o firmware com uma taxa de injeção diferente você pode dar uma olhada no patch que forneci. A maneira mais fácil é substituir a primeira linha da lista por uma cópia da taxa de injeção desejada. As instruções para compilar o firmware para Linux são fornecidas norepositório de firmware.
Após instalar o firmware, basta reconectar o adaptador USB para utilizá-lo.
