Comprou um computador Dell Desktop Alienware i7 hex-core R7 Windows 10, que vem com a placa Bluetooth com/sem fio Killer 1535.
Levei para casa e instalei o 16.04.
Durante a instalação, o Ubuntu não reconheceu nem minha conexão com fio nem o sinal da rota sem fio.
Após a instalação do DVD/CD, ainda não há reconhecimento da Internet.
Nenhuma assistência online até agora funcionou.Nem mesmo o próprio link do Killer.

Observe que o relatório do bug menciona especificamente o seu dispositivo exato: 168c:003e.
Vamos atualizar o firmware para ver se ajuda. Como você não possui internet neste dispositivo, baixe este arquivo em outro computador, transfira-o para uma chave USB e arraste e solte-o na área de trabalho da máquina em questão:http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/l/linux-firmware/linux-firmware_1.169.1_all.deb
Agora, em um terminal:

Um novo download e instalação resolveu o problema.
Meu computador é a versão mais recente do Dell i7 Aurora R7 com uma placa Ethernet Killer 1535 (com fio/sem fio/bluetooth). Uma versão de um ano não funcionou. No entanto, um novo download e instalação resolveu o problema!!

Olá, confirmo que o linux-firmware 1.157.16 realmente corrige esse problema e não introduz nenhuma regressão à versão anterior. Meu laptop é um Dell XPS, que inclui um adaptador de rede sem fio Qualcomm Atheros QCA6174.
Estou no kernel 4.13.0-32 e usando o firmware versão WLAN.RM.4.4.1-00051-QCARMSWP-1 api 6, posso verificar se a conexão dura e pode funcionar sem problemas por algumas horas (quando foi caindo silenciosamente após 10/15 minutos antes).

Acho que você deveria pegar um cabo Cat 5e (Ethernet azul com extremidades RJ-45) e conectá-lo entre o laptop e o roteador. Esperamos que você tenha uma placa Ethernet separada e não seja uma placa combinada com fio/sem fio/Bluetooth como você foi levado a acreditar.
