e preciso verificar se portas específicas estão abertas, 127.0.0.1
então decidi instalar telnet
para simplesmente tentar conectar-me nessa porta específica.

O que há aqui, por que não consigo me conectar localhost

e lsof
são apenas duas das melhores maneiras de verificar uma porta.
Para ver as portas 1-100,
sudo nmap -p1-100 localhost
Para ver qual processo tem porta 80
aberta,
lsof -i tcp:80
