Recebendo a mensagem "Nenhum arquivo ou diretório" com conexão SFTP, mas o arquivo está no servidor

Estou tentando descobrir e gostaria de saber se alguns de vocês já passaram por isso antes.

Tenho meu script SFTP (antes era FTP, e foi migrado para SFTP), quando estou enviando um arquivo para o servidor cliente estou recebendo uma mensagem no verbus "Não existe tal arquivo ou diretório", mas o arquivo está ativado o servidor cliente. isso não acontecia antes quando eu tinha conexão FTP.

algum de vocês já experimentou isso antes? até eu estou saindo com status 0 isso é muito estranho para mim...
