Como habilito um touchpad?

Instalei o Ubuntu 11.10 há vários meses, mas não encontrei uma maneira adequada de ativar o touchpad.

Certa vez, tentei algo cujo nome não consigo lembrar.

Alguém tem alguma sugestão?

Abra o Centro de Software e pesquisesináptica, deve ter alguns pacotes que após a instalação devem habilitar seu touchpad.

Eu tive o mesmo problema em um Dell Inspiron 1545!
