Компания-производитель оборудования распространяет свою программную платформу в виде tarball, содержащего, помимо прочего, исходное дерево ядра без каталога .git. Я знаю версию и знаю, что uname -aвыводится.

Есть ли какой-либо реальный способ найти ближайший восходящий коммит, т.е. коммит, минимизирующий

diff -r linux/ /path/to/tarballed-linux/ | wc -l

или мне придется прибегнуть к повторению вышеуказанной команды в каком-то разумном диапазоне?

Если они не перезаписали, Makefileвы можете использовать VERSION, PATCHLEVELи , SUBLEVELчтобы получить определенный тег в gitистории. Например, если там написано:

VERSION = 4
PATCHLEVEL = 4
SUBLEVEL = 38
EXTRAVERSION =
NAME = Blurry Fish Butt

вы можете получить v4.4.38тег:

$ git show v4.4.38
tag v4.4.38
Tagger: Greg Kroah-Hartman <[email protected]>
Date:   Sat Dec 10 19:08:14 2016 +0100

This is the 4.4.38 stable release
