sudo vim /usr/share/dbus-1/system-services/org.freedesktop.Notification.service

Exec=/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/xfce4/notifyd/xfce4-notifyd

Вы можете посмотреть, какие еще службы уведомлений настроены в dbus.

ls /usr/share/dbus-1/services/ | grep -i noti
org.kde.plasma.Notifications.service
org.xfce.xfce4-notifyd.Notifications.service

А если у вас уже настроена какая-то другая служба уведомлений, которая может вызывать проблемы с ними обеими, попробуйте ее запустить.

sudo rm /usr/share/dbus-1/services/org.kde.plasma.Notifications.service

В моем случае я использовал Manjaro, который является разновидностью Arch. Моя настройка была немного иной.

Путь к исполняемому файлу находился в другом месте.

pacman -Ql xfce4-notifyd | grep 'xfce4-notifyd$'
xfce4-notifyd /usr/lib/xfce4/notifyd/xfce4-notifyd

Моя линия exec выглядит так

Exec=/usr/lib/xfce4/notifyd/xfce4-notifyd
