最も近い上流コミット、つまりコミットを最小化するコミットを見つける実行可能な方法はありますか？

diff -r linux/ /path/to/tarballed-linux/ | wc -l

それとも、上記のコマンドをある程度の範囲で繰り返し実行する必要があるのでしょうか?

上書きされなかった場合は、、、 Makefileを使用して履歴内の特定のタグを取得できます。たとえば、次のように表示されます。VERSIONPATCHLEVELSUBLEVELgit
