Parece que la pantalla no puede mostrar nada porque Ctrl + Alt + F* no hace nada. La pantalla en sí funciona: veo algunas pantallas correctas antes de cargar el sistema operativo. Puedo conectarme a través de ssh.

Espero poder solucionar este problema sin usarlo nouveaudebido a la temperatura más alta (sin controlador propietario).

No estoy muy familiarizado con la iteración más moderna del nvidiacontrolador, pero si nadie más quiere:
A partir del registro, el controlador NVIDIA detecta un monitor analógico VGA en CRT-0 y obtiene los datos EDID (es decir, qué resoluciones y frecuencias admite el monitor). Sin embargo, no enumera los modos disponibles como lo hacen todos los demás controladores X (aunque esto puede ser sólo una peculiaridad del controlador NVIDIA actual) y elige un modo de "selección automática". Entonces el conductor parece estar contento, pero posiblemente el modo seleccionado sea uno que al monitor VGA no le guste por alguna razón.
Cosas para probar:
1) Reemplazar
Driver "nvidia"
con
Driver "nouveau"
en xorg.conf (solo para probar). Reinicie el administrador de pantalla o reinicie. Mire Xorg.log, el nouveauconductor debería al menos contarnos más detalles sobre los datos EDID y qué líneas de modelo están disponibles.
2) Desinstale nouveau, mueva el xorg.confarchivo a un lado (por ejemplo, a su directorio de inicio), reinicie el administrador de pantalla o reinicie. Los otros controladores X asumen valores predeterminados razonables cuando no xorg.confhay ninguno presente, con suerte el NVIDIAcontrolador también lo hace. Nuevamente, mire para Xorg.logver si aparecen modelos válidos.
3) Si eso no ayudó, y si el nouveauregistro mostró líneas de modelo, agregue algunas líneas de modelo estándar (por ejemplo, 800x600) xorg.log(y vuelva al NVIDIAcontrolador) y vea si NVIDIAse puede persuadir al conductor para que las pruebe en su lugar.
4) Si su monitor tiene una función que muestra la frecuencia horizontal y vertical actual presionando botones en el monitor, esta información sería útil.

Terminé apt purge nvidia*eliminando /etc/X11/xorg.confy reinstalando nouveau; ahora veo el escritorio nuevamente. Contra una temperatura más alta, habilité el ventilador ruidoso.
