Tikz: Transformando eixo para pular um intervalo

Question

Dois gráficos são ilustrados em um diagrama, com bastante espaço entre eles, o que o torna bastante feio. Eu gostaria de aproximá-los, pulando o espaço entre eles.

Este é o diagrama

Isto é quase inteiramente retirado deesta resposta. É claro que é preciso trocar o papel de xe y, então ymine ymaxtornar-se xmine xmax, comoStefan Pinnow menciona.
